Clouds over Sky’s head

The defending champions are in a worse position than they were before. Only Candace Parker and Azurá Stevens were signed through 2022 out of the seven players who played at least 30 minutes in the Finals last year. Per Rowe, Chicago has gotten a commitment from Quigley and a third by putting the core designation on Copper. However, a surprising amount of change could happen.

it was always going to be hard for the Sky to bring back DeShields and center Stefanie Dolson. Therefore, who signed with the New York Liberty on Thursday. Losing Courtney Vandersloot, the last free agent, and an All-WNBA point guard would be terrible for Chicago’s chances of repeating.

Still, the Mercury should be considered the favorite in the WNBA as things stand right now. Remember that Phoenix’s biggest problem last season was keeping in touch with their stars while on the bench. Diggins-Smith and Griner averaged 35 MPG during the playoffs because their former coach. Sandy Brondello, didn’t feel comfortable sitting them down. Now, the Mercury have the option of building a second team around a former MVP who led the league in scoring last year. That’s how intense the superteam Phoenix Mercury center has put together.
